At the beginning of each month, I sit down at my trusty old writing desk in the cabin I've lived in for nearly a decade and write to you about everything that is happening at the cabin and surrounding wilderness.

You'll receive things that belong in your hands rather than on a screen: recipes, seasonal tidings, the stories I don't share online, and more to help you savor each season before the next arrives. 

My letters to you are inspired by a now-past generation of writers and cabin dwellers from my neck of the woods - Sigurd Olson, Helen Hoover, Calvin Rutsrom, Bill Mason, Justine Kerfoot - who transported me to simpler times, full of adventures and misadventures, through their lived experiences rather than a Substack listicle.

Although my cabin in the woods has more modern creature comforts than those of my predecessors, the stories abound, and the wilderness is still teaching the same lessons.

If you want to feel transported to the forest and my little cabin for a few moments every month, these letters are for you.

Sign-ups will close on the 5th of every month, and letters hit the post office by the 15th-ish. If you sign up after the 5th of any given month, you will get the next month's letter. (Ex. If you sign up on September 6th, you will receive October's letter. If you sign up on September 4th, you will receive September's letter.)

Please note, I carry your letter through a forest, cross a river by boat/snowmobile, then drive an hour through more forests before I can hand it off to the closest village post office. If your envelope arrives with extra character, that would be why.
